The area was officially organized as the Pioneer mining district but is better known as the Superior mining area. The geochemical signature of the mineralization is similar to that which distinguishes alkali granites from other granitic rocks. Jabal az Zuhd, a major plutonic complex consisting largely of alkali granite, crops out only 5 km NW of Jabal Tawlah.
However, there is no other evidence of possible derivation from a parental alkali granite magma. This report summarizes the mineral and water resources of Arizona. Its purpose is to give factual information about the present supplies of minerals and water in the State and present a realistic appraisal of the supplies that are available for future exploitation.
